Default Took a newbie to the Yuba Yesterday

Took a newbie to the Yuba yesterday. Mostly to teach and try to get him his first hook-up.He is giving bank fishing a retirement attempt. Spent the first few minutes showing indicator rigging and technique. While working our way upstream he was amazed at a couple places I was telling him to drift through as it was water a gear-guy would pass on. But he did it so he's learning.

The water was actually had a nice off color tourquouise hint to it.That nice slightly dirty fishiny look.
There were some blue wing olives coming off around a size 12. Had several refusals on BWO para with a PT dropper and some questionable "bumps" The "new guy" (don't want to mention Davids name) was moving upstream and had his first hook up on a sunk BWO. I think he's "hooked" after those Yuba trout. Next trip we'll get one to hand.
I swear I'll be home by noon this time!!

Thanks Mike...........this is what has kept fly fishing alive all these years.

We need more people like you to take others out for that first time or two.

    Cool stuff...........

My pleasue on the report. It was fun watching someone hookup for the first time on a flyrod.
He is going to join the message board, but he somehow got the idea he has to be given a secret Indian name by a member first, he didn't buy the snipe hunt but it was worth a try.
I have been tossing these around....

    1. Two dogs ....
    2. Dances with tailing loop ( a personal self description)
    3. Runs with wind knots
    4. ????

A wise man once said "give a man a fish and you feed him and his wife dinner, teach a man to fish, and that's another guy to split the gas with."

I'm drawing a blank at the moment must mean should get back to work.

I saw the flow over 4,000 on dreamflows but sometimes they're not always correct, That seemed higher then I thought it would be. The search for trout will have to continue on to other waters for now.
