    Default A Perfect Fish

My buddy landed this fish earlier this week about 1 mile above tidewater. She was absolutely white hot. There was not a hint of color on this fish. She was pure ocean and absolutely incredible. I am still totally jacked up about this fish! Steelhead are soooo cool!

I was thinking the same thing... Chromer! That is a fish that will become invisible in the stream... a ghost so to speak! Absolutely Beautiful!

Wow, what a great steelie. The only way you could beat that is to actually catch it out in the ocean, lol

Jack McGloughlin was a Sacramento City Firefighter, US Marine and a great fly fisherman of the great generation. Not sure if he is still here with us....?

He showed me how to tie a Steelhead flies right on the counter at West Capitol Rod & Gun, a bait-n-tackle shop I worked in around 1970.

Jack told me the ultimate fly fishing experience was to hook a fresh run 10# hen Steelhead in the winter on our north coast within a few miles of the ocean.

I was lucky enough to be able to do that on the Gualala, Garcia and Eel Rivers in the next few years.

    Thanks Jack............
