Default Rio's new Skagit Shorts are hot!

Was on the phone today with 'Skagit Commando' Mike McCune.

He said that he and his partners, Scott O'Donnell and Ed Ward, are all over these new Rio short (20') Skagit lines.

Mike is down here in Nor Cal chasing geese and visiting his parents, but will take time out to put on a demo of their new two handed ideas down on the river in the next month.

    Default full line or head?

Is the Short Skagit a full line or shooting head (aka Airflo compact Skagit?)

They are in the full line format. Hopefully Rio will come out with the head version soon.

I have mentioned in a previous post that I don't care for the integrated running line with the RIO shorts and would cut it off and use my running line of choice. I would bet that Mike, Scott and Ed all cut the running line off (Ed mentioned that he does in a post on the Spey Pages). It is too heavy/thick for easy shooting.

You are right Rick....Mike is cutting off the running line because it is too large in diameter for his taste.

It might be OK in the heavier sizes?

We would love to see them in heads too.

We have them in stock from 275 to 475.

Default At the price of the Short Skagit lines, I will wait until Rio sells the Short Heads

Then, I can buy a couple of Short Heads to go with my current AFS Heads for the price of a single Short Head/line combo.
