Nice fish. You were fishing at night? Lake or river?

My finger was under the gill plate but was not in the rakes at all. In fact I tried very hard to NOT touch the rakes, but the fish was very much alive and was very strong. I didnt want him to fall on the ground. Dont know if that is a good enough excuse or not. I can tell you that when I put him back into the water he was ready and he swam off with a lot of force. I watched him for about 20 feet and he was totally fine.
This is a river system that I fish. The Kokanee from the lake that the river feeds into run up the river every year about the first or second week in October. The big browns follow right behind them. Not sure if it is just because they spawn about the same time or if it is because they are eating the Kokes as they head upriver to spawn. Probably a combintion of both. Anyway, I have some more pics but this was the biggest so far. Thanks guys,
    Jared
