    For future reference, it is best not to put your finger anywhere near a fish's gills. If you touch the gills, it may not immediately harm the fish. It might swim off and appear fine, but later it may have difficulty breathing.

    To get a good picture you can cradle the fish by putting one hand right in front of the tail and the other hand just behind the pectoral fins (the fins right behind the head). I have attached an example below.

    By the way, that was a really nice fish.

    For the record I useually do not ever put my finger in the gill plate. I agree I could have done a better job and I will be more aware next time. Here is the useual way I take pictures of my fish. This time I wanted to be in the pic, and he was big enough were I didnt think much of it becasue of the room.

    Maybe we should have another board for political discussion. I say leave the politics outta the sig line and posts. I have to agree with Mr.B and Phil, but at the same time choose to ignore ignorance!

    It would be nice though if people kept there political views off of a non-political site. It is just common courtesy. This is a fly fishing site lets try to keep it that way.
