    Default Trinity River update

I have been out doing some scouting work on the Trinity river. We are starting to see some nice steelhead pushing into the system. While the fishing is by no means red hot just yet, there are some great opportunities at hooking some of these early chrome bullets on floating lines. This past week we have found some nice fish in the 4-7 lb range and some half pounders. The next month will see some great fishing swinging flies on floating lines. The lower Trinity is perfect for swinging flies on lightweight spey rods. I have more in depth reports and will be updating my blog weekly here: http://steelheadonthespey.blogspot.com/

Here are a few pics from the last two trips

That was a fun trip for sure Jason. As Jason said the fishing isnt quite red hot just yet but that could change any day! We did pretty darn good though Id say. Anyone looking to swing some flies for some Trinity Steelhead should definatly get ahold of Jason. He knows that river well and will put you into some great swinging water. Youll have a great time. I know I sure did! Thanks again Jason, and I agree with Matt, nice line through that drop! Kevin

Very Nice Jason! I would have been pretty well puckered the first time I dropped into that hole.

Happened to drive by the hatchery in Lewiston today, unfortunately got there just after closing time, although the gate was still open I didnt want to make people angry by driving in there to look at the fish ladder. I did look at the river though below the hatchery and saw quite a few salmon, didn't appear to be any steelies, even small ones.

    Thanks Jason

That is real classy Steelheading. Super fresh looking fish.

What is the water temp now?

What are you charging for a day of guiding?

I guess October should be very good.

    Jason,
You look a little "puckered up" going through that white water! Thanks for the report. Heading up your way on Saturday.

Nice pics Jason, good luck with the guiding business. I know how much time that you've put into fishing those waters, you'll do well.
