    Default Spider found in pool

    My wife found this little guy on the bottom of our pool, can anyone identify it.

    Looks an awful lot like a wolf spider to me.

    I was thinking a wolfy, but the ones I usually see around and in the house were nowhere near that size. They are one of my favorite spiders.

    Yeah, I work in Natomas.... We have HUGE wolf spiders here.

    The QC guys are scared of them... LOL.

    No, no...you guys are waaaaay off on this one. That my friends is the infamous and deadly California Drowning Spider, from the genus Cannotus Swimus. Also, a common nickname is the Quarter Dollar Spider.

    Maybe that spider's got a whole stash of quarters down at the bottom of your pool.

    Scott,

    A quarter sized wolf spider is actually fairly small!

    I saw one that would have barely fit in the palm of my hand (it wasn't a California Tarantula either. Unfortunately, I have also seen those)

    And I hate spiders...
