Any info on the fishing at Lake Davis? Going up in a couple weeks for 3-4 days. Also any recommendations on where to stay in the area? I was told one place closed down and the other is way expensive. Any info is welcome....Tom

Tom this web. site is a good sourse for info. http://www.dollardsmarket.com/fishing.html http://www.flyfishwithdon.com/ Portola is the closes town to the lake a little pricey, Reno is a hour away, and is a lot cheaper.
October on Davis Lake is usually fantastic so this year it should be even better.
Actually, October is good almost everywhere in Nor Cal for everything.
Try to get out in October.............it is a magic month.
Not too hot and not too cold.

I fished Davis today going 2 for 3 that I hooked. All fish were on blood midge pupae. The lake is as low as I have seen it and the water temp is still in the upper 60's..
The hotel in Portola may be pricey but you are supporting a local business. And with gas still over $4 a gallon the 100 mile round trip from Reno can get pricey fast.
