    Has anyone fly-fished in Japan anywhere?

    I hear they have some fly fishing for trout but don't know much about it.

    i've fished there before. it would depend on why and where you are going in Japan. if you are going for fishing, i suggest the northern island of hokkaido. lots of streams and rivers there that have from small native fish to steelhead and salmon. there was even a flyfishing only river. there are about 5-7 native japanese fish including rainbows and browns. lots of rivers on the main island, Honshu, are fished out unless you are willing to hike and hike and hike with info from a local. most all rivers require their own license for about $20 USD for the day. a suggestion is to go to "Kinokuniya" bookstore in SF and try to find/buy a flyfishing mag. then find someone to translate it if you can't.
