    Default Martis Creek Lake

Does anyone fish here anymore? I know a bit about the history but it seems nobody ever talks about it.

I fished Martis a couple of times back in May. I caught a few fish on both trips (4 and 7 I think). Weeds and non-game fish have really taken over the lake in the last few years, but you can still get some browns and cutthroats in there and I bet there are still some big browns. Most of the fish I got were on the smaller side with the biggest being around 14-15. They say that all the development above the lake is causing the problem with all the weed growth. You can still fish it early in the season, but it gets pretty overgrown in the summer.

Martis was once one of my favorite places to fish, now I take a trip or two right after it opens then forget about it. It might still be worth trying, but come July it will probably be too warm and weedy.

This is just my opinion, but I hope it helps.
