lines for Burkie 9145-4

If anyone has a Burkie 9145, what lines do you like with it? I'm looking at that rod and wanted to know what people like for a full floating line and also for a skagit line or another line capable of throwing heavy sinktips.

I use a skagit 650 plus 5 ft cheater. For floating lines i use a 9/10/11 windcutter

CND 9/10
Airflo delta 9/10 or delta long 9/10
Skagit wise anything from 600-660 seems to work great. Really depends on what kind of load you want on the road and your casting stroke. Hope this helps.

I have the 9145 and would agree with the above suggestions. I do prefer a 5ft. cheater and the 650 Rio Skagit. The majority of my casting has been with the Rio PowerSpey 8/9. I think this line matches up pretty well with that Burkie. Two weeks ago I had an opportunity to cast one of the new prototype Nextcast lines. The 8/9 long belly was pretty impressive. I believe that these lines should be available later this summer. After they are up and running I believe we will also see another release of the Winter Authority this Fall...if all goes well.

Thanks a lot for all the recommendations. I'm definitely going to be looking around for a 650 skagit head. I have a CND GPS8/9 and an 8/9 Midspey that I might try for floating lines, but if they seem too light I'll look for one of the 9/10 lines you guys mentioned. I've never tried the Rio Powerspey, so that sounds interesting. If you have any other thoughts, definitely let me know. I'm building the rod now and probably won't be finished for another month, so I have some time to look around for lines.

I would try both those 8/9. This rod cast a wide variety of grain weights and either one might work. I thought a Nextcast 8/9 winter authority felt great on that rod, so you never know. Good luck with the build!
