Caples today (Sat)
Arrived around noon at the Woods Creek parking lot and carried my FatCat down to the lake. Fished the entire eastern end till sundown for 2 dozen fish- mix of holdover and recently plantted bows. Alternated between Camo line on rod 1 and camo sink tip on rod 2. Sealbuggers and other small attractors close to shore. I like this end of the lake. It's possible to stand on a number of rock ledges out there- a welcome break from the freezing water and endless kicking. If you go double-up on the thermals burrrr. Missed a big fish (as usual) while standing on a rock at mouth of big cove. Had a Mackinaw follow-follow-follow and finally grab the bugger. Felt a little tick and yanked the fly our of it's mouth. Never saw it again. Also missed what looked like a good brown- same sceniaro as before. I've gotta learn to let them eat it. Last year I did get an 8lb brown in Caples just trolling a small perch pattern. Glad I didn't see it, probably would have yanked it away from him to!
