Skagit Line for Beulah Switch Rod?

I'm thinking about picking up a Beulah 6/7 switch rod this Spring and want to get a Skagit line for it. Does anyone have any suggestions on the gain weight line I should get for it? I'm thinking a 350 grain Rio Skagit line cut down to 325 grains might be the ticket. Jeff C.

Before you make a decision on the Rio line, I have one and its great dont get me wrong. I would recommend the Beaulah Elixir line that is actually made for that rod.

Another option might be the SA single handed skagit lines- they are a bit shorter and are suppose to match rod weight pretty well

5wt: 280 gr/22'
6wt: 320 gr/22'
7wt: 360 gr/23'
8wt: 400 gr/23'

All good answers, Jeff. When I talked to James at the Pleasanton Show, he said he hoped to have his new line of "Winter Beulahs" out by the end of the month. They should be between his Elixir lines and a Skagit. I don't know what the name will be on them...the winter thing was just my 2cents worth.

I would definitly match the rod with intended beulah line. Not often do you have the guess work taken out of spey rod/line marriages. Beulah has done it with their switch rods.

I was over at James' house monday casting the newest toy. The 11' two handed surf rod. this is an entirely new blank. Three rod sizes 7/8, 8/9 and 9/10...I think? If youve never punched out 110' of line before, look no further! You guys who like long rods are gonna really dig this one.

I have Meiz's 10' 6" System 6 switch rod and it casts beautifully with a WC 10/11/12 body only (360 gr/22') with 10' of T-8 total weight = 440 gr/ 32'.
I would suggest starting there...the SA 360/23 might be a useful purchase for starters if you don't have a WC 10/11/12.
I believe Meiz helped Beulah with their switchers...
Beulah's Switch Rod matched lines for their rods are tapered to the tip and great with polyleaders but if you want to throw a little heavier fly, in true Skagit style, try my recommendation.

I got a beulah 6/7 from Kienes two weeks ago which I matched with an Elixir line. Today I fished it for the first time in the American and I love it. The line matches perfect with rod. What a great outfit!
Of course....there is always something better (sage z-axis 11')

Here's the latest on the new Beulah lines:the Tonic Line.
6/7 410 gr. 24ft.
7/8 485 gr. 24.5 ft.
8/9 585 gr. 25ft.
9/10 650 gr. 26ft.
Should have a demo or two in the shop after the Spey-o-rama, April 21st. No firm date on the sales date...should be here before the shad start to really do their thing.

Thanks for the update. Looks like that'll be the line that I'm going to get. Will you have to use poly leaders or can it throw sink tips? I dropped by the shop yesterday afternoon to drop off some flies for Andy and noticed that you don't have a Beulah 6/7 Switch rod in the rack. Set one aside for me when you get the next shipment in.
