Default Delta water temps now down to 68 and falling.

Delta water temperatures are dropping rapidly with the mild days and heavy cloud cover. I fished Friday and, even with the water being 69 in the early morning, the bass were taking top water presentations. Time is running out though, the water temperature has dropped another degree, down to 68. Only a few weeks of good top water fishng left. After that, it will be a lot more hit and miss.

I'm fishing tomorrow and will post what I find.

At 7:30am the water temperature was 66.9 at the north end of Frank's Tract. I did raise some LMB to a popper but the number of takes were much fewer than a few weeks ago. Afternoons may be better.

What water temp do you usually look for when targeting the Stripers?

Katz, the stripers have been here since 72 degrees. Some big fish as well, but most schoolies up to seven pounds. I think the high temperature is more flexible than the low temp when they shut down. I've found that at 46 and below it's VERY hard to tease a striper into hitting a fly.
