I've been to the Boundary Waters...

More mosquitoes than I have ever seen in my life. I had scars for two years from them.

I was there during some ridiculous hurricane/tornado/all hell broke loose storm. A buddy had to be float planed out after have 20 small trees fall on him. The storm destroyed all the portage trails and it was awful.

Caught one nice smallie on a Rapala that my instructor let me borrow. Was released quickly before my camp buddies tried to eat it.

Very pretty place, absolutely gorgeous stars. Found wild berries that were quite good.

Also learned how to carry (portage) a canoe. Day 1: two steps, Day 21: 1/2 mile with a 60lb pack on my back and a canoe jogging. You have to jog, or at least walk briefly or the mosquitoes will bite your face.

    This was summer of '98.
