Default Trolling Motor Battery for Pontoon

I am about to try to mount a small electric on my Hobie Floatcat. Has anyone tried an electric on a pontoon, and have you found a lighter deep cycle battery? It looks like a wheelchair battery might be the answer.

What is the best direction to travel with a motor, forward or backwards? I'm going to be a little stern heavy. Thanks.

FYI for anyone interested in motorizing a pontoon, I found a great marine deep cycle battery, 16#, very compact, 31 amp hours, $50 at Batteries Plus. It gives you a solid day of fishing with occasional motor use.

Got my battery @ Costco...deep cel, costs around $150. I typically travel from point to point going forward. If I decide to troll from point to point, it's in reverse. You'll have to register your craft if you motorize it.
