Default Time for lake Solano on Putah Creek

This is a great place for float tubes, pontoon boats, canoes and kayaks.

It is only about 45 minutes west of Sacramento and north of Vacaville.

It is just west of the little town of Winters.

Close to Sacramento and the Bay Area.

    Default Lake Solano access

Bill - I've never float tubed in Lake Solano but thought I might give it a shot. How strong are the flows? Can I access it from the big gravel pull-out on Putah Creek Road and then kick my way up the lake? Or is it necessary to drop in at the big island, float down and then hike back up? Any tips would be greatly appreciated -- thanks!

It is best to put in at the island below access #5. The current is a little too strong to kick back upstream. I usually drift down to the bridge on Lake Solano then walk back up. Some people park at the bridge and walk up to the island, so at the end of the day they don't have to walk back to their car. If you have a kayak, canoe, or pram you can avoid the hike.

You can also drive down around the south side of the lake just above the dam and float tube there.

Not sure but I don't think the NZMS are a problem down in the lake?

Opps...I guess I was wrong here.

There is a little current in the main channel but not a big deal.

I would assume, unless proven otherwise that NZMS are everywhere in Putah. Better safe than sorry. Ed

There are definitely NZMS in the lake. If you fish Lake Solano or any part of the creek, you should assume that you have infected your gear and take care of it before fishing other waters.
