    Default Red Lake

Spent 3 hours late Saturday morning tubing all the way around Red Lake.

    I smell like skunk.

At least the scenery was pretty good.

Very few fish caught by anyone. Talked to everyone I passed as I trolled various buggers parallel to shore and tossed a few nymphs and dries in the shallows by the inlet. Two bankies had landed a total of 3 on powerbait and one guy trolling crawlers behind an attractor also landed 3. Everyone else on the lake: nada.

Saw a few rises near the inlet around noon, but never hooked anything.

However, trolling a big rubber legged bugger on the way back to the dam, I had what I thought was a short strike. Kept trolling. When I reeled in to get out of the lake, I discovered I had no fly.

Either that knot sucked or that was a pretty good fish...

Spent the rest of the afternoon scouting the area--drove to Markleville and looked at the East Carson for the first time (and had a nice lunch with my daughter), but the boredom factor for the 13-yr old non-fisher kept me out of the water after that. (2 out of 3 daughters love fishing, but this weekend it's just me and the nonfisher at home...)

Default any updates on Red Lake?

I tried to go a couple of weeks ago, but it was way too windy. Anyone have any recent experiences there?
