Default Anyone been on the Lower Yuba lately?

...if so, how's it fishing and what channels to float around the island? Haven't fished since before the gully-washer in the Spring of '06...any suggestions would be appreciated? Plan to fish it tomorrow.

    Thanks

The Yuba is fishing ok. You will not find any of the channels you saw a few years ago. The high water had pushed a lot of gravel and hurt the bug life. We floated it on friday, and hooked around 10 fish. Not too bad for they way the yuba has been fishing this year. Fish are taking caddis mid day, and nymphs in the mornning and evening.

    Good luck, Damian

Fished it today Bill with very few signs of bug life. I saw more fish rise than I did bugs on the water. What were they eating, Hmmmmm? I never found out. One rise on a size 16 Caddis. Nice day though.

We fished it on Monday and saw very little bug life as well...only saw a handful of bugs hatch with no rhyme of reason to where or when. We were on the water around 9:30 and off by 3:30.

Saw a big golden stone and a few caddis, and that was it. Hooked a nice fish below Sycamore Ranch on a copper john and another on a smallish black rubber legs. Definetly didn't change flies enough. Also, didn't see a rise all day...saw a lot of suckers though.

It was a little breezy, but good ambient temp. Didn't check the water temp, but wasn't bad to wet wade. Only two, maybe three, other fisherman on the river.

I would go to the Upper Sac as fast as you can get there.

I know that is fishing really well.

MSP - I would go for a week if I could.
