Default Shad report on Dan Blanton's BB

    Posted by Ron (RAS)Silva on 2007-05-26 10:20:15

Just returned from our anual shad trip.Started Sunday at Verona, wade fishing, I fished from two wing dams and got two fish from one.Was able to wade the bar and cast into the "mud line"of the Sacramento.Caught ten to twenty in a few hours. Also tried for stripers but only got a bunch of largemouth.

Monday I hit Shanghi(sp) bend on the Feather. Not much happening there one spin angler said he got one fish that morning.

Drove over to the Sacramento near Butte City, fished Packer island, short hike, good drift, one sucker no shad.

Up to Road 48 to meet the rest of our group and camp out/fish the week.
48 was dead slow so tuesday we drifted to Butte City, nadda.

Wednesday we drove over to the Feather to fish our usual spots, nothing.Moved back to Verona Wed pm caught shad on the bar through Friday.Should have stayed at Verona but you never know with migratory fish. The flow dropped at Verona during the week but the stream gauges don't reflect any major change, where did the water go?

I just fished the Chico area last night and we usually do very well on Memorial Day Weekend -- nada!

Hope they are just coming late this year!
