Default Putah Creek 18 May 2007

The flows made it above 600 cfs (normal summer flows) again. They were perfect for floating the back eddies on the creek today. I fished some slower sections from my float tube and landed three: two on a #22 black midge and one on a #18 tan micromay. I only saw one other fisherman taking advantage of the nice day on the water.

Thank you for the report JT, I think I'll be shopping for a tube soon for the lower sections and Lake Solano. The creek just isn't the same in the warmer months. Paul

There are quite a few sections of the creek that are floatable. You can fish areas that rarely get fished. One thing to be aware of is the current. There is still a fair amount of current for a float tube in the slow sections of the creek. A hydrodynamic tube would be a good investment, as well as Force Fins.
