    Default Clouser Critique Wanted

This is the first clouser I have ever tyed, I was hoping for a little constructive criticism/feedback from you guys. I used a size 8, 811S and size 5/32 sized eyes. The green I used was a color I made while trying to dye it chartruese.

So what do you guys think?

    Thanks in advance
    Matt

PS: I have to admit that I have never caught a bass on a fly rod, but hopefully that will all change this weekend.

Looks good , as usual .

    I'd try a EC 413 in size 2 , and 1/36 oz. eyes .

What lake will you be hunting at ??

I think it looks good. I love the 811S hooks...except for the price...
Something youll need to do is lash the white bucktail down farther back. It will want to come over and foul around the hook if you dont.

    Default Clouser

The tie-off was beautiful. Striper love a meaty meal. Maybe make it just a little more full. I also use and love that particular hook.

    Hi Matt

"I'll give you 12 dollars a dozen for all you can tie!".....only kidden.

Yours actually look better than most of the commercial ones I've seen.

For the next Clouser photo you might want to turn the fly over in the vise so it look like it's "flying right".

    Default Clousers....!!!

Matt,.... Good looking pattern. The hook choice fit's the pattern weel but Im with David. Try tying some on the EC 413 jig hook, too. Another variation you might want to think about would be using a slightly longer shanked hook.

Your tying skills are getting better each time you've posted a photo.

Your Clouser looks nice, but here are a few suggestions:

Your colored chartreuse wing needs to be longer than our white underbelly,
or use a shorter length of white underbelly for more of a tapered design.

You might want to add a little bit more hair to your chartreuse wing to better balance the swimming action and to increase the color contrast.

    Just a few suggestions.

    Have fun tying.

All that thing needs is water and a liberal dose of Bass. You ever get up our way and want to pester some bass, give me a shout. Might not be any good at catching them, but I'm a pro when it comes to pestering.

Good looking bait and will work just fine as is. Like others, I use EC jig hooks which helps to avoid snags. Also I tie in a few strands of pearl and silver flashabou in the tail. Length of the flash is slightly longer than the bucktail. I'm not sure if this makes the streamer more effective, but it surely looks good hopping thru the water.

I have a question for you tyers out there. If the reason you are using a jig hook help prevent snagging up, well if you've ever noticed the clouser tied on a "J" hook rides point up just like the jig hook does.
I'd like to hear comments regarding this. I will be tying some clousers on the NEW jig hook this Saturday at Kiene's fly fair.

I will also be tying in my "newly developed" weed guard. So far it's been working pretty good
