    Default Lower Sacramento is on................

April/May is usually pretty wild on the 'Sac' and with these lower flows and a mild winter lately it will be great this Spring.

    Caddis mania..................

The only thing that can put the fish off now is a big late tropical storm or if they mess with the flows.

Went up and spent 2 days there a couple of weeks ago, and the fishing was pretty solid. Most of the fish came on Caddis Pupa patterns, the greener the better. Around noon everyday the hatch would start, and it was a everything hatch, Caddis, BWO, Calibeatis, you name it, it was hatching. I had the best success swing a caddis and letting it hang down below for a few seconds. If they didn't eat it on top, as soon as it went under something was on it. As a matter of fact, I was on the phone and just letting the fly dangle in the water below me and I hooked 2 fish. Most of the fish came in fast water but the longer slick runs were the best when the hatch occurred. Great river, my first trip up and I'm planning on dragging the boat up there again sometime soon.
