Well, that's interesting because John Denver died at age 54 in an experimental plane crash. He loved Alaska and fly fishing. He used to spend time at the Little Mulchatna Lodge. Here is some...
I'll be in Iliamna on June 19. It will be very interesting to see the level of Pebble activity going on. Hopefully it's less than last year.
I remember Curt Gowdy being on American Sportsman several times. I also remember Arnold Schwarzenegger on the same show going into Yellowstone backcountry with Doug Peacock to film grizzlies. ...
Good memory, Ken. I loved Gadabout Gaddis.
In Lodi we had a place called Stroh's Sporting Goods. Old building, wood floors, and a guy who really knew his stuff. Going in there as a kid was like going to a toy store for me.
Remember Bel Lange? He had a TV show on Channel 13 called The Outdoorsman. I saw a picture today of someone who looked just like him, so it jogged this memory. My dad worked with Bel at the TV...
Lodges are great - especially the hot shower part. And the good lodges have guides who know their area inside out. They're going to treat you well because they want you to come back.
DIY float...
In your case, Lee, you've got the muscles AND the looks.
See relevant thread in Events section.
Headed to Alaska in a couple of weeks. Three of us are going to float American Creek in the Katmai area. I usually float the Koktuli. This is a bit more challenging of a float as far as the river...
Very good post!!
Following this saga (and hoping one day it will all be over) is not for the faint of heart.

I've been doing the same research recently. I'm not a fan of big vehicles and I get enough tent action on other trips. Apparently there is a place in Petaluma that sells the off-road-type teardrops.
Sad news. Norm was such a pleasant man and a very good teacher. Listening to his fly tying videos reminded me of the way Mr. Rogers on TV talked. Very effective. I love my Norvise.
Wonderful video!
If you go, have Lance tell you the story of the time he was guiding in AK and a client took a leak on the bear fence (and try not to cringe).

I was driving by a hobby shop today, so I pulled in. They had a product called Foam Tac. I bought it, brought it home and tried it. Worked immediately. You might want to check that product out.
Thank you for the pointers. I'll try again this p.m. I'm thinking after I put the glue on I'll hold it for a while, then clamp it with one of those hair clips ladies use.
Gorilla Glue for strike 3.
I'm trying to tie up some Rydare Mouse patterns. I'm to the point where you double the foam back on itself and glue it. The Zap CA I had doesn't work in gluing the foam. Went to the store and...
