KCRA said Dry Creek near Antelope today. The DFG said it was probably a Pacu but the kid that caught it threw it back so there is no way to know for sure.

My sources confirm the same. The Klamath was "nasty" at Orleans yesterday. And, firelines are being cut close to Orleans to protect town from the Pearch fire as it continues to grow.
I'm hoping...
I heard from someone working near the Trinity yesterday that it was running dark brown. It's probably due to rain on burn scars and flow increases for the Hoopa boat dance. Apparently, it rained a...
What tcorfey shows is correct. I drove down on Sunday and had a look. There's a locked gate just past the historical marker on the south side of the river (left bank), 39°13'10.0"N 121°20'00.3"W. ...
It was only a matter of time, I guess. Hammonton Road is gated at Timbuctoo, again. Yuba County did it this time, so it'll probably stand up in court.
You can't drive down below Park's Bar...
Hooray! I never thought it would happen.
@Jeff F Both Copco dams are both above Iron Gate so, in my opinion, there shouldn't be much of a silt problem until Iron Gate Dam comes out. That dam is...
The Klamath was still pretty muddy above Somes Bar last Friday (roughly the same area as hwchubb was fishing). Visibility was around 2-3 feet - not productive fishing. There are probably fish there...
I think that the forest service campgrounds close after Labor Day. You might call the forest service office in Nevada City and ask if any are open year round.

Looks like the increase in flows is helping to cool things down. That and the heat wave seems to be over. The Turwar gauge was as low as 68 this morning. It should be cooler than that this time of...
My son went up to the Salmon River last weekend to go swimming. He reported that the river was running brown, like chocolate milk in color and texture. They left and went to Willow Creek and saw a...
The helmet head sculpin is pretty easy to tie. Using the helmet head was an experiment and I like the result. The head has a weighted keel design that helps to keep the hook from snagging on the...
Olive and black sculpin pattern with a helmet head on a full sink streamer line. As close to the bottom as I could get. It's kind of a chuck it and duck it pattern.
I went a week ago. We fished late and were hoping for a hatch towards sundown, it never happened. Surface insect activity was minimal to non-existant. Hopper dropper was ineffective for us too. ...
Nice post. I love it up there too.
I saw you guys last fall; late August, maybe early September? I remember the dog. You and the boat, not so much. Nothing personal, I just like dogs.
I just saw that Yuba County has designated Sycamore Ranch as an evacuation center for the Rice's fire in Nevada County. It's probably a good idea to avoid that location, if you are planning to fish...
Sunday and Monday around the TNC area. Monday seemed to be a bit more clear than Sunday but I don't have a Secchi disk to measure with.
I just got back and can confirm that the river is somewhat cloudy, kind of a milky color but not brown. It would be a perfect steelhead color, not as good for trout. Still fishable but it'll...
Thanks for the tips everyone.
I appreciate the list of flies Steve. I should be well equipped but I'll check my boxes and break out the vise, if need be.

A friend got some passes to the Nature Conservancy water on the McCloud and has invited me along. I've never fished there before. Does anyone have any tips on fishing there? Access, trails, etc. ...
Rich Z. definitely knows his way around the N. Umpqua. He likes to pop the fly with a rhythmic vertical twitch of the rod. It makes my wrist get cramps just watching. Rich uses a custom foam...
PM your email address and I'll see what I can do.
Are you interested in anything in particular? I'm not in the Bay Area but could scan a few pages, if you know what you want. I don't really want to part with it.
Check Amazon for used? Looks...
Darn. I was too slow. I've got one just like it that is starting to show it's age. It's just big enough to not hold enough junk to weigh you down.

I tied one very similar last fall, same concept for swinging. The tungsten bead helps it to bounce off the bottom where the stoneflies crawl.
Oh yeah, I know the old saying, "A boat is a hole in the water surrounded by wood (fiberglass/aluminum) into which you throw money". Doesn't stop me from having a couple already and wanting another...
