Lake Sonoma is open to boats. Nothing else. Launch, play, trailer-up and go home...that’s it.
Oh well, I’ll tell the kid the lake is blown-out.
Takes me away...both to locations with natural beauty and a mind change. The challenge much like hunting, and as stated above, it does take thought. It’s good tonic for the brain.
If essential travel puts us 600 yards away from another human, then yes, it is essential.
Your input is truly helpful, thanks again.
Thanks very much for the input and ideas. A friend suggested Lake Sonoma mainly because of the boat-in camp sites. Got a little recon to do, thanks again.
Looking for some spring break trip ideas. Early April and am willing to travel a decent distance, 5 to 6 hours from the East Bay. Son is turning 15 and we need some time together. Would like to...

Looking at SST on the tying forum, thinking of putting some APs in the box. What's your take?
The rods are an absolute dream to use. Rich is a hell of a guy too.
Pull the trigger you will be very happy you did.
Thanks Bill, looks like the small hooks will go in the vice. Put some soft hackles in the box too..
Thank you too Tim. When last up there I only fished the upper stretches between Old Station...
Check the classified...good nymph set-up for a very fair price
Got an invite to fish this area based out of old station. Any fly recommendations would be appreciated. Have about 10 days to warm-up the vise.
Fished it 2016, but not in the colder months....
Best 5wt for nymphing is a 3 or 4 wt, if we're talking trout. lighter is better for feel and ease. The nymph specific rods have very good backbone, so let him know they can handle big fish.
