Nothing happening except an aggressive greenie bite... caught 11 or 12
Going there on a camping trip this week. Does anybody have an info on it as far as fish and what flies to use?
Drove by a few weekends back on 49 and the water looked great but didn't see any public access. Is there any access along the river at all? And is there any trout in it?
Wasn't there an article on this river in Fly Fisherman recently?
Since I don't have a watercraft of any kind, I was wondering how easy or difficult it is to get to trout from the shore/old wooden piers or the new ones at near the day use area
Does anybody know how to tie these? Only thing I can find on the internet is two pics and the listing on the Orvis site if you want to order some
What kind of aquatic invertebrates can I expect to find in there? Planning on making a few trips this year and need something more than the usual terrestrials I throw
Digging the otter on the dock
I was at Jenkinson in early May when it was cold, cloudy and drizzling off and on but the water was still warm. Hooked up on a large smallie but it got off. A few casts later about 10-15 feet down...
I never take my dogs anywhere because they're small and easy targets, plus if they didn't get attacked by anything I'd spend 3 days chasing them all over the country side.
I've also never seen a...
I knew about the Sacramento Perch but was just curious about Yellow Perch because it's one of the fish I've heard about since I was a kid and know CA has had almost every freshwater fish known in...
So they're all up near the Oregon border?
I can't really seem to confirm their presence even though I have seen there are populations but then again I have also read there aren't.
Does anybody have any info on this? And if they do exist...
I've often read about aquatic snails being a part of the menu for certain fish but I often overlook or forget about them since I've never seen them until I was reading a book by Ralph Cutter...
Awesome pics. I need to find ponds like this, that and take more pictures of the places I fish since I almost always have my camera.
And I agree with the damsels and dragons assessment. The bass...
I have a few places that I like up that way. I usually stick to the Caples/Silver Lake area and the West Fork of the Carson in the Hope Valley area... plus a nice semi secluded lake up that way. I...
Went to Rancho Seco today, and it was a scorcher but I didn't mind too much. Fished from the docks and saw a decent sized bluegill and a huge rainbow but they promptly disappeared in the time it took...
If you wouldn't mind, could you change mine to JR Martinez?
I've always hated the one I chose
I just missed the ants I guess because I only saw one carpenter ant in 3 days. There were tons of tiny ants on our tent though but no insect activity down by the lake.. I'm surprised they even took...
Went camping up at Sly Park this past weekend with my brother and cousin. Only fished on Sunday though. Rained in the morning until 8 AM, went down to the lake around 10 or 11 and the water was...
I may have to tie up some of those mini hoppers.
As far as what I use on bluegill, just beetles really. The Leetle Beetle by Fly Fish Food is a good one that I had success with last year
I don't know if this is the right place to put this but I heard they planted Artic Grayling into some lakes in the Sierras. Is there any truth to this? And if so, does anybody know into which lakes...
I was trying to think of how to do a pattern for these guys since there's a ton around where I usually fish but I think an Adams or Parachute Adams in size 12 would probably do alright... and they're...
Looks like a Robber Fly to me
Anybody else in experience the show Mother Nature put on for us last night/this morning? Lasted for an hour or so, maybe a little longer. I know I enjoyed myself because I love stuff like this......
