Agree with most everything you said. Been FF CAL for over 50 years, and it's pretty safe to say, that if it's talked about extensively on the interweb, there's a good chance it's overfished and over...

Yep, we can sure agree to disagree. CF has been around forever, and is widely used in the aerospace industry (to name just one). It's use and properties are pretty well known to engineers. In the...
Call me skeptical about CF drift boats. The pounding a skiff takes from the seas is completely different than the pounding a drift boat takes when it hits a rock. Kevlar is great at absorbing impact...
Don't know about a carbon fiber drift boat. While extremely light, carbon fiber can't take a hit very well. I'd imagine it would be a dream to row due to it's low weight, but durability might be...
Ran into the exact same issue a few years ago. ADMINS tried to fix it, nothing worked. Had to re-register with a new user id and email address.
Heck, PGE burns down entire towns, why not destroy a salmon stream also????
I've owned a pair of Korkers with interchangable soles a few years ago. My experience was much like Steelies, they fall off pretty easily and the attachment points crack fairly quickly rendering them...
The river was at 8500 when I crossed it yesterday. About as clear as it was at 4500, and just as many guides boats as usual. It looked very fishable. Unfortunately, I won't get the chance to fish it...
Saw 10 trailers at Bonnyview when I went to CostCo this morning. The guides are still pounding it.
I have several Orvis Hydros reels that I use for bonefishing. An excellent reel with an excellent drag. Have never had a problem with them.
I have three of them. Great reels with a great drag. Haven't had any issues with them in the salt for the 5 years I've owned them. Use them for tarpon and dorado.
Both BC and AK are very expensive places to fish. No way around it. What's your actual budget? I'd recommend looking into the rivers in WA for a much cheaper quality steelhead location.
Age is a relative thing and it all depends on your physical shape, and more importantly, how many people you know who can actually row! I'm 66 and I don't row the LSAC any longer. Anything fast gets...
<<<Tcorfey, I'm only planning to run the Lower American, Lower Yuba and Lower Sac with it. Those rivers are pretty safe at normal flows, and the drive isn't rough.>>
I live near and fish the LSAC on...
I second what MT said. If you're only going to use it a couple times per year, far cheaper to hire a guide. I have both a drift boat and a small jet sled, and I use the jet sled far more often than...
A warning was sent to all dam operators last week in advance of the pending "bomb cyclone" that hit to expect huge inflows. Those with limited storage capacity (like Folsom) were advised to start...
Great photo's John. Keep 'em coming. Now that's how you post a report, no spot burning and great pics!
A wise old fisherman told me many years ago:
Those that truly know, don't talk. Those that talk, truly don't know.
What John said!!!!!
Lotsa looky-loo's here that want the info they get. And then we get posts complaining about the crowds on the Zooba and no one realizes that we are own worst enemies.
UMMMMM, you do realize that when a fishery is discussed all over the interwebs, including this forum, the end result is gonna be crowds. And unfortunately with that popularity comes guides in boats.
Yep, ancient history. What it takes to run a successful fly shop today has nothing to do with what it took to have one 20 years ago. Way too many small retail store front fly shops around to support...
Just to be clear, my comment about keyboard warriors was directed at no one in particular, but based on the general tone of this thread (and one I see repeated frequently here) about how fishing...
Yep, Gitt. As Mark Twain said, "rumors of my death are greatly exaggerated". Caught up there last week. Keyboard warriors don't fish much, but I do! Get on out there and make reports, don't just read...
Yes, take your fly rod. Flies for Redfish are simple and can be bought at most any FF shop. Just Google 'Redfish flies' to get some ideas. Leaders are simple also, nothing more than 9 feet of...
<<<I am trying to understand the reason for the opposition to providing colder water to the Trout in the North Fork of the Feather? >>>
I have the same question. This is NOT the Lake Almanor Thermal...
