from my experience the 7 wt is great for the continental northwest. once you venture into B.C. the 8 wt is the rod to have, although if just one will do the 7 wt is the one.
Wow - surprised to hear that you believe a Feather fish might be hotter than a Yuba fish. Its not been my experience. I've always believed that a Yuba rainbow is as hot as they come, anywhere. It...
just two and half days on the trinity. Very wadeable however, fishing was slow. Between three of us managed to only land several half-pounders. Nothing of any size. Saw many drift boats and all...
sent you a pm
Wow, hope you're just kidding, if not, not sure this was an appropriate reply. I've taken a few classes with both Jon and Lance and all were very well done. Great guys who know their stuff. Gran
Looking for a used Outcast pontoon boat. Prefer the Pac 1000 model if available. thanks, Gran.
I'd like to purchase "The complete steelheader fly-fishing tactics" if still available. Thanks, Gran Flagg
I still remember the first time I met Bill. I was down on the American struggling to cast a shooting head (first-timer) for Shad. Bill obviously noticed and walked over and offered to help. After...

Thanks for the update, guessing it will have to wait a few days.
not sure I understand the flows on the yuba per the link from cdec. Flows at Smartville have been consistent at 530 cfs past 24 hours, yet flows at the other monitoring stations fluctuated greatly...
Well done, that's got to be worth quite a bit of Karma! What time did this take place and were you down near long island? I was there most of the day and didn't see or hear anything.
I was there today. very little visibility, maybe a foot or two near the banks. The flows were right at 700cfs. As for spawning, I thinks it happening very early this year (I believe its already...
Looks like the flows top out at 6000 cfs after running at 720 for weeks. wonder how long it might take to get down to wadable conditions. Hoping someone that lives near by might post some mores...
had the same problem so did a search on youtube for "casting a voice", worked great
Clay - I think its terrific. Thanks so much. Only live about 90 minutes away, but it sure is nice to know before making the trip up. Thanks again and really enjoy your blog. Lots of great information.
I was just above the bridge yesterday and its definitely at 2300.
great advice, thanks so much.
One more question Flynoob, I googled oroville recereation center with not much success although I did come up with Lake Oroville State Recreation Area (which covers 74 square miles or so). Are there...
thanks. I'll definitely give it a shot.
wow - what a great day on the feather. thanks for the report. I'm fairly new at this myself. Usually spend time on the Yuba but thats not available now with the high flows. Question, didn't realize...
Thanks Dan. You're right in that I've learned so much from this forum. great resource. Good advice, I'll definitely slow down and pay better attention going forward. Question, is there something...
I'm new to this forum, a new fly fisherman and a big fan of Kiene's. I've been at this for about two month months now and have had some success with dry flies but today I caught my first fish...
