Not sure how it is now after the Camp Fire.
I'm hoping there are some North Idaho residents here with some "have to have" flies for the streams and rivers in the Pan Handel. Namely the branches of the Coeur d Alene river. I'm now living in...
I backpacked Desolation for many years. Never saw or caught any Goldens, but that doesn't mean there aren't any. It is sad to see that DFG has seen fit to eradicate those "horrible" trout that were...
Couldn't agree more. The absolute best times have always been fishing/backpacking trips with dinner (and a few packed in beers) around a campfire. Still do to this day.
Heh, we used to Dove/Pheasant hunt where Thunder Valley Casino is now......or out at the north end of Watt Ave.
Thanks Bob. It's been a "road" that's for sure. I was been able to get out this past summer quite a few times and I'm going to try the Yuba for the first time tomorrow. In all the years I've lived in...
Ya, for all intents it's "gone".
I think my first rod was built on a Fenwick blank bought at Broadway Bait (I think). All I remember is the many pull out shelves of blanks for cheap. From there I built a few from Bills Shop (Sages)....
The rod should have hand written script that will be the ferrule size IE: 2 F, Heddon, and the name or number. I should say should unless it has been refinished. The ferrule sizes were Heddons way of...
I own and fish bamboo rods almost exclusively. The big issue with most vintage rods is condition. Many people think that a rod is in "excellent" condition when in fact it's probably in poor, or just...
Nice fish. When I get large Trout IE: filet sized I'll do boneless filets and do them on the grill. I've had non-fish eaters ask for more......
They do the same thing on the NFF for the whitewater kayaker's. Supposed to go from 300 cfs to 1200 or so Sat and Sun.
I believe the first time I went to your shop was when you were in the "old" part of Town and Country Village. You pointed me to Kauffman's book as well as Jack Dennis'. You were instrumental in...
I spent many summers in the YMCA going to Ancil Hoffman Park and running around the river there, plus all the trails that are now "off limits" in the park.
Also rafted the River many, many times,...
I seem to have terrible "ailments" that require I see Dr. Creek........
Large.
Acted like a brown, lots of head shaking, went to the bottom and a run that made my reel scream like never before..it was completely uncontrollable.
Butt Valley in the 90's before they tore down the dam.
I believe so, but they also have a 20 year permit renewal timeframe where the F S can increase the yearly fees. I think they are capped around $5600 a year.
Cheaper than building a new dam........
I still remember Broadway Bait and Tackle (I think), and drawer upon drawer of Fenwick blanks............
It'll probably be epic! I'm looking forward to the High Lakes around the same time. The year before last we still had snow drifts across the road in late June but the lakes were incredible if you...
Depending on year made, it could be a Young Beaudex or 1530 re-badged. The value is about right.
I want to give a BIG thank you to those that sent me materials. I am truly stunned and humbled at the volume. Just amazing. :)
This gave me an idea for a "Paradise Fire Fly". All of you have...
Thank you, everyone. I never thought my cats would be such a comfort, but the little buggers can really sense that my wife and I need them, they won't leave us alone..........
A best guess would be 3-4 wt. Very rare rod.
