DHE (Deer Hair Emerger from Bob Wyatt) is a super easy tie and works well for me. Sometimes a little tough to see but I think most low-riders are.
edit: I use TMC 2487

Maybe call the Patagonia Outlet here in Reno? They usually have a couple pair on the ends of the size spectrum.
For stillwater in general, when it's calm and using a float and the action is slow, how do you keep people from going completely insane?
That's a very fun watch! There's an episode of river monsters being shown now where Daniel Goz (from the Tapam video) takes Jeremy Wade up the river for them, makes him fly fish. It's called Killer...
Thanks for the heads up. Wish I'd known earlier even if it was just a warning of the possibility.
Nice pics
1) I've usually call these a Sulphur. That one seems really pale / translucent.
2) Crane fly. There are tons of different kinds. I think most are terrestrial. (Mosquito hawk sometimes...
I spent a lot of summers in McCall with my grandparents. It's gorgeous. You'll have plenty of places to explore. Plenty of rainbows in the Payette below McCall, very approachable for FF. Caught a...
RGJ: DNA confirms Pyramid Lake trout's origin
This has probably been up somewhere more scientific but first I'd heard it for sure.
Reminds me of this one a couple years ago in Alberta. http://digitaljournal.com/article/295321
I was up there a few years ago and fished a stretch of river that had much different fish...
Hi Taylor,
For further development, I'd also suggest you check out Ortega's book Meditations on Hunting.
Bob Wyatt has some of this expanded to fishing in his book "Trout Hunting: the Pursuit...
Two skunked last Monday from shore. Not sure what to say about it... very few folk were out so I can't even give a voyeuristic report. It feels like we're warming with a few nice days in a row, but...
This article just posted...

This surely can't be a legitimate way to estimate but... 24 LB in...
Had the rare catch of a pulling up a big branch out there once. It was covered with clear white scuds about size 12. Two fat dragon fly nymphs were going to town on them. I've got to think that most...
I notice too that the adipose fin is clipped on those fish. Was wondering if that was part of the tagging for the pilot strain. The white tip on the lower fins isn't common but I have seen that...
I wasn't out there, but two BIG cutts been caught on the fly over the last week. Not sure how much longer they'll be in easy range from the shore before the cold really sets in. One of these has been...
I was up there a couple years ago and it was great (although we got pushed out of the forest campsites due to fire danger). BC had just instituted a permit system and extra fees for prime waters. My...
I'll send you a PM this evening. Kinda 3 areas, the lower I-80 canyon / verdi / mogul, the urban bit through Reno/Sparks (paved river trail accessible at the many parks), and the lower river below...
I went out this weekend during the afternoon (no wind!) and had a great time. The water is pretty low and clear down here by Reno, and I've absolutely got to say watch carefully before you approach...
Haven't been myself but saw this (along with a couple pics of very big fish).

If you'd consider a trade or value toward it for a sage xp 590-4 or fli 690-4, let me know here or by pm.
Great fish! hopefully many of us will join that club :) (that's my way of praying for a 30" myself :p)
There's a troll at every bridge Rick!
I knew those pics got messed up. Try these.

Whoa sorry! Time got away from me. Some of that was time with the family though so that's ok right? :)
I went up July 29 to Aug 5. Was pretty wrecked after a work project and needed some time...
Sounds great! Experience definitely of value because I did a little exploration near the Donner summit last weekend without success. Chose one of the bigger looking creeks, looked for springs, etc....
