The flow hotline will be no help. They only tell you if the river is open, not the actual flow.

Just to reinforce how finicky the coast is, when I left Fortuna today the SF was closed for low flow, the VD had turned brown, and the main stem was perfect.

If it stops raining after next week, then who knows, the SF could be closed for low flow by then...realistically it’s hard to plan these things more than a few days ahead. It’s nuking rain in Fortuna...

Orange and silver, as I would have expected. Still a few (very dark) salmon around in the river so no doubt an egg or dead drifted alevin would've been more productive, but also not as enjoyable.

I have a 11’ 7wt switch and use both a size 3.5 and size 4 on it interchangeably. I prefer the 3.5 as I feel it balances a little better.

I think that people fish for them in Scotts Flat. I am sure there are also some in Englebright but the topography of that lake is not great for fly fishing to them.
