Orange 2019 license and steelhead card here, too.
I've used the Spot for several years for trips on rivers where even a badly twisted ankle would be a big deal and there's no cell service. I got it for a solo trip, but take it along now for most...
Updated my post - "mildew" is what they said, not "mold." Thanks for jogging my memory.
I thought that by buying top-dollar Simms G4, etc., waders, I could count on getting the inevitable leaks repaired when my feet got too wet for c. $50 a go. Part of the deal for spending that much.

I have to head down for a work commitment and will spend the night.
Any suggestion for a website or shop that can offer advice for casting in the surf in the Santa Cruz area this week?
Thanks,...
I drifted the Yuba during the last eclipse. It was a classic Yuba day when we couldn't buy a fish, eclipse or no eclipse. But it sure was a lovely way to spend a day!
We also have a casting pond in Oakland, near HWY 24 and Redwood Rd. A great resource.
+1
Happy birthday, Bill.

I fished for bonefish for the first time with Ron two summers ago on the north shore of Kauai. He was a charming man and for me, a superb guide. For a beginner like me, simply seeing the fish as they...
Wow, Ard. That's hard to wrap my mind around. I think my last trip to the Roach was in about 1981, but I don't remember what you describe.
When I started fishing that water in the early 70s, the...

A bit under 50 years ago I was learning to fish for brookies, landlocked salmon, and lake trout ("togue") with streamers on the tributaries of Moosehead Lake in Maine, when the big lake fish ran up...
This forum is a treasure. Thanks for protecting it, Bill.
I'd bite. It would be a blast to learn a new fishery that's a short trip from Berkeley.
I know it's off-topic, but the Caribou area is not just a great area to fish, but a true CA botanical paradise. PM me if you're ever interested...
I grew up with canoes and have been missing having a way to get onto water myself or with a friend. I have no room for a big boat and my back won't let me sit in a kayak anymore, so a canoe feels...
No pics, but I caught a brown on a golden stone under the Hwy 20 bridge about 3 years ago.
A few weekends ago we enjoyed the Indian Creek Lodge restaurant very much. Sad it was closed Sunday night, but trust they know their business on when to be open to stay profitable and open for the...
Visited the Feather below Oroville today. Got skunked after a few hours swinging my favorite run up near the 162 bridge. So we headed down to White Gate. Wait, what?

Spent a really lovely morning at Limantour looking for perch. Cast the flies that have worked into outgoing tide water that looked promising for a few hours, until the wind came up and we both almost...
