Any fast action 9 foot 8 or 9 weight should do for most striper fishing. Tons of great options out there.

As far as fly patterns, in general you won't want to fish big steelhead streamers like popsicles, bunny leeches, etc that you would swing on the Eel. Not to say they wouldn't catch fish in dirty...

I have been using the 4200 series reels for over a year now and they are sweet reels. I have guided with them and they are definitely killer for saltwater duties, plus make for a nice steelhead spey...
