Example:

In the drought of the late 1970s we were on the tide water of the lower Eel River with hundreds of other anglers one morning, very early in the dark.

As the light came up we could see many steelhead rolling and cruising in front of us. CA DF&G estimated that here were 3-5,000 steelhead in the Singley Pool.

Al looked out at this great legendary mass of fish and said, "Where are they?"
