Here is some good feedback from Alan Barand about the new iPhone camera.

For 99.9% percent of people, including most photographers who aren’t pros shooting some specialty like auto racing or wildlife, this is the best camera:

The new wide angle lens, portrait mode, and night mode take this far beyond every point and shoot camera and it even beats the low light performance of my fancy Fuji X. They’re doing so much with computational photography now, the camera companies can’t compete in many of these areas because they don’t have the computing power or software of the tech companies. Apple essentially has a full fledged camera company in-house now with over 800 employees working full time on just the camera in the iPhone. Pretty mind boggling.
