Guide Rec's and other advice for Florida East Coast

My sister-in-law and brother-in-law retired a couple of years ago to Stuart, Florida. I'm planning to visit in late April and looking for a good guide for a day or two as well as any tips on wade access. Anything you want to share will be useful. Doesn't have to be Stuart, but within an hour or two north and south would be good.
