PG&E turns down flows on the McCloud river.

So, I have been watching the gauges on the McCloud river fairly closely to see what happens with the turbidity.
I was surprised today to see that the flows on the MSS gauge "MCCLOUD RIVER ABOVE SHASTA LAKE"
which is on the Bollibokka Club showed the flows were 180 CFS.
Huh? Just a few days ago it was over 300.

So I did a little looking around at the gauges and saw that the flows at MC7, which is at Ash Camp,
showed 67 CFS.
Yikes.

Gauge also show they dropped the flows from 227 to 58 in about 1 hour.

Put in a call to the local Cal-Trout office to see if they knew what was going on.

At the time the person I talked to did not, but they made some calls and got back to me this afternoon with the following:

(this is a paraphrase of the info I got):

PG&E did an emergency de-water of the McCloud River to repair a problem with the Dam. They have divers in the water and are working on it at this time. PG&E notified the CA DFW about the problem.

That is all I know at this time.

Poor McCloud river, it is having a really bad year.

Well the nozzle is back on. Flows now approaching 6000 cfs. Poor fish indeed.

Flows now approaching 10k. Tight lines.

Hopefully a nice flushing will get rid of all the silt that has built up on the river bottom.

Rain eased up yesterday so the flows are slowly coming down.

Upper Sac has also been going up and down a lot.

Looks like the Upper Sac topped out at 16,401. Already back down to 9,464

flows dropped to 1200. great news is that turbidity is holding at 1.5. this is the lowest i've seen in years. hopefully the insect life has not been scoured from the river bottom.
