My New Bug
I have used this fly in the past for swinging steelhead and hope to be doing that again soon in Oregon if flows are good. I got the general idea for the fly from Andy several years ago when I was in the shop. I tie the trailer hook on with fireline. It is flexible but rigid enough that it does not tangle. I put tear mender on the fireline before wrapping the cross cut rabbit fur. Tear mender is a fabric glue that holds the rabbit fur on but stays flexible. I have also fixed a few pair of pants with it. Kind of an interesting fly and it has caught fish.

Looks great John, can’t go wrong with an egg sucker!
-
I'm sure that would catch a few LMB. I often use a black egg suck'n leech in a 3/0 for bass fishing. the season is just around the corner, all we need now is some water.

I am also fired up to do some bass fishing but I need to stay calm, catch a few steelhead and wait for it to warm up. I have a bunch of bass flies from last year so I don’t want to get into tying those right now.

That looks very fishy- what size hooks are you using there?

The trailing hook is an Owner size 4. The front hook is a size 2 but I cut it off so it does not matter but you do want the front to be a short shank to max out the motion of the fly.
