This one from the Smith last year was 41" long and they didn't even consider it in contention...

That was caught back in February. The length/girth calculators aren't very accurate. I caught one 43"x24" which according to the weight calculators should have weighed close to 32 pounds. We weighted it using a cradle like what the use for Musky & Pike & a certified scale. The fish weighed just shy of 26 pounds.
Hah! Not bagging this guys catch, still an incredible fish but not even near 28 lbs and that girth doesn’t even look like 24”. I have seen several monster steelhead that we have taped out in the 26-28 lb range and that fish isn’t even close. Here is what 26 lbs of steel looks likeAttachment 14518
That fish is not 28. It doesn't have that donkey look to the back and shoulders. That fish last year was bigger by far and even then,24?
Fish Sniffer has always been full of propaganda. In 2000 they claimed a good Arctic Grayling population was still alive and well in Jackson Meadows Res. DFW Biologists will tell you otherwise
Well DFG "research" isn't top notch. For instance, their fish count for PC only documented rainbows. I know that there's carp, largemouth, smallmouth, spots, pike minnow, suckers etc. I'd listen to a fisherman who knows a body of water better than DFG. Also the whole point of Sniffer is to give out locations. If fisherman want to keep think hush they probably shouldn't send pics to Sniffer.
