April/May is the top time of the year for the lower elevation fisheries.

Things are starting a little early, especially during these low snow pack, low water years.


The lower Sacramento river, Redding down stream, is one of the best things going now for big wild Rainbows.

All Valley rivers should have some action right below the first dam from the ocean for half-pounders and trout.


The Delta, bass ponds and low elevation reservoirs are turning on for bass and panfish right now.


The big Striper spawning run that mostly goes up the Sacramento river near Colusa is April/May.

Some go into the lower Feather river too. The lower American river can be good this time of year for Stripers.


The American Shad spawning run is ready to explode right now in many Valley rivers. May/June is the peak.


A lot of the mid-elevation trout lakes and trout streams should be starting now with May/June the peak.
