Denver....First week of September?

I am hoping I can get some insight into fishing in or near Denver.

I will be in the city for the last few days of August and into the first week of September and want to know if it is worth bringing my gear.

Transportation will be limited but I can always rent a car if necessary.

Many decades ago I lived on the Western Slope (Glenwood Springs) and I fished the rivers there and it was wonderful, but I never fished on the east side.

Any "urban fishing" worth noting?
