Who is fishing two flies for different species?

For trout in moving water people fish a dry fly and a nymph trailer.


I read about a guy using a white streamer with a small bright fly as a trailer in Tomales Bay.

They were fishing for Stripers with the streamer and jacksmelt with the small bright fly.


Two nymphs while indo fishing is common today.


Ted Fay used two weight wet flies in the pocket water with one on the main line and one on a dropper above it.


Craig Ziegler use to swing two different flies for Steelhead to give himself more chances.



Where do you fish two flies and describe......

Anytime I’m nymphing there are two flies on.

Dry dropper is a natural two fly scenario.

I also fish double dry quite a bit. Especially when that second fly is hard to see on its own.

I can’t say I’ve ever specifically targeted two different species with a two fly rig.

I think most people fish two flies for Shad.

I use 2 flies for Flounder. I’ve even tried it with a fly rod but a light spinning rod works better. One fly on the bottom, a splitshot and a fly up top. Works good!

I've been fishing a popper and crawdad dropper for Smallmouth. Also, I've fished a wooly bugger and Beatle dropper at Pyramid Lake, NV.

In the surf, a Clouser type fly with dropper; often a San Juan worm or sand crab imitation.

I always use 2 flys for shad for sure. Landed 3 doubles yesterday. When I use 2 flys for trout I rarely ever get a double.

I have used a pink popper and a small shrimp pattern behind. I have caught small yellowfin two at a time that way. Don't like it when you get big ones at the same time.
