Pyramid fish "released"???
"..what's the problem?" I will tell you whats the problem: Many fish are being staked out by a rope thru their gills in one to two feet of water after being caught. They are left there for one to many hours by the anglers to either cull for a larger one or it is not yet "convenient" for the angler to haul the fish for 30 or more minutes in a cooler to Crosbys for a photo, drink and pin and then be "released". This has been observed by myself and many friends all this fall by several "trophy" anglers. I have personally seen several of these grey, lifeless fish show up at Crosbys and then brought down to the lake for "release". So, it is a mistake to assume lots of these fish are released and live. I have no problem if someone desires a trophy fish and kills it outright, there are plenty of anglers that are releasing fish. However, by abusing and indirectly killing a lot of smaller fish (10 to 15#) we limit the number that might reach 20 or even, someday, 30 pounds. Yes, the fishery is improving, but I and many friends would like to see it reach its full potential. Fish abuse needs to end! Caveat: I do take a small fish or two home for the BBQ from time to time.
