East Lake, OR
Went Thursday and Friday with two others. A ton of fly fisherman. We landed 49 fish, most 11-13, some 14-17 and a couple at 18"s. Basically chironomid fished in 8-12 feet of water. A guy in our party had a brown of about 22"s almost to the boat. Mainly rainbows but 2 Kokanee and 5 Browns. Ran into Betty from this Board who has recently moved to Central Oregon.
Here is some eye candy:

Nice Gordon, I'll be there in 3 weeks. Maybe see you on the water, I'll be fishing during the week.
-
Well that's a good report.
I'll be up there next week.
Any callibaetis showing up yet?
-
No callibaetis yet but a fairly decent hatch of flying ants. The fish were slurping the ants on a consistent basis.
-
Oh good.
I like fishing the ants. How big are they? 14's? Black ?
-
These were BIG. My guess is Size 12.

Fished East today. Good fishing with chironomids, patterns in olive or black fished near the bottoming 9-10 ft of water, in front of Cinder Hill camp ground, within 75 yards of the rocks. Saw my first callibaetis today. Water 53 degrees. Should be happening soon as water warms.

Fished East Lake two days ago, very tough unless you can handle indicator fishing. WT was 65°. The previous day was apparently a "should have been there yesterday" stellar day, but lots of us on the lake fished hard, watching the fish take callibaetis and midge emergers and a few dries, but tough to hook them. I hooked three, got one to hand, a 16" kokanee. I'll be back in the fall.
Metolius was slow too--most of us got 1 to 2 for a few hours. Back in the fall--crowds gone, WT down, fish up, Paulina ready ;-).

Not fly caught but here is what lurks in the depths.

Wow, the rumors are true.
