Or Verona! I still think it's early but I caught my first shad the third week in April one year.
I plan to start tying flies soon for shad. Might even tie some this weekend while camping at Camanche.
I started tying shad flies the beging of April last year. The pic shows what my shad fly box looked like by the third week of April last year.
Anchored in a boat at the mouth of the American River and the mouth of the Feather River can be good for American Shad in April/May.
Stripers too......
I wish I could say I'm ready, but honestly I can say I'm very curious. Never fished for shad before, but hoping to change that this spring. I understand that you can swing for them in similar water types as steelhead? Any general suggestions for pattern types; size, color, profile, action, etc? Can't wait to give it a go this spring!
