It is the end of the year, so lets see some of your memorable fish of 2006.
This fish was caught on opening day, on a chartreuse and white double bunny.
He definitely deserves more than one picture.

As usual, Caples Lake rewarded me with some very nice fish early in the year.

The Madison River was definitely the most exciting river of the year, big streamers and aggresive fish.

Alo, here are some bass from this spring. The first one is from Folsom Lake on a popper, and the other is from a very fun day on Jenkinson Lake.

I think the most memorable fish last year was a steelhead that Bill caught when I was fishing with him and Marilyn on the Klamath - close to 10#

The first pic is not the greatest but the hottest fish i hooked all year on the trinity. Wild hen around 6 lbs. on a floating line and a autumn hilton. Second is a beautiful wild fish caught in early december on a black leech.

This is a 12lb awa, milkfish I got on a 5wt. I am still waiting to hear from IGFA. I also got a 200lb ahi on conventional gear. Over here we call them gorillas. I was very fortunate this year to catch many fish and had the good fortune to travle to some new places and fish with some very talented anglers. Next year should also hold many surprises, I am looking forward to the opportunities to come. Happy New Year to all of you. Mems.

That fish was caught at an undisclosed location which will probobly be my new opening day fishing spot until
i find something that can match it, although that will be hard. I had a shirt on because i forgot my jacket in the car.
Needless to say it was a little nippy, but after hooking the fish i could care less how cold i was.

Mems,
Soon I saw the photo I knew what the fish was. Last year in Australia, one of the guys caught one that was just shy of 20lbs. There were some big schools but none of them were interested in eating. The one fish that was caught was on a torn up clouser. I think the fish died from a heart attack so they brought it back to the boat and made a gyotaku print out of it. I also got a copy of it. So now, in my collection I also have a print of my 26lb permit, a baby tarpon and some blue gills. The ones I want most is a saratoga and a medium size barra.
Happy New Years,
Jay

These first 3 browns were caught in mid July, all on the same day, on the upper Missouri in Montana....my previous home stomping grounds before moving back to Alaska:

This bull trout/brook trout hybrid was caught in the Swan River, Montana. Beautiful fish but the crossbreeding by brookies is seriously hurting the pure bull trout population in Montana....fish and game in MT wishes you would pop every one of these caught on the head....they are great eating:

These next series were dollies and rainbows taken in the Kenai River between July and October, all on the insidious "bead" (yes, I am a flyfishing barbarian...... ):

This beautiful "leopard" rainbow is typical in Montana Creek in Alaska:
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j32/DocEsox/1a70b4af.jpg
The next ones were caught on Quartz Creek in October....a smaller stream flowing into Kenai Lake, it runs right next to the highway for several miles....easy access:

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j32/DocEsox/SpawningDolly-4.jpg
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j32/DocEsox/QuartzFootballBow.jpg
And, yes, a couple of these were kept and eaten....my wife would kill me if I didn't keep one occasionally as fresh trout is her favorite food in life. Granted living in Alaska gives me an unfair advantage for access to nice sized trout......keep the pictures coming....never get tired of looking at fish pictures.
Hope everyone has a great 2007!!
