Looks like the summer/fall steelhead fishing is finished as two days ago the flows were 4,000 cfs, today they are 16,500 cfs headed for 25,000 cfs. Will start winter steelheading fishing about the middle of January if water conditions permit. After a fairly slow Sep. & Oct. fishing really got quite good from mid Nov. through the first week of Dec.

A big late fall wild steelhead from a couple years ago.

Holy moly Gordon, that fish is a BEAST!! Could you share any details of what the fight was like? :D

Hairstacker: Looked back in my notes and show nothing about the fight. At the time I estimated the fish at between 13-14 pounds. Took it in very late November behind the house on a bead head nymph. Really a thick fish.

Hairstacker: Here is another late fall beast. Caught this fish one day after the one already shown. Also taken behind the house on my bead head nymph. You can see the nymph in the top jaw.

That IS another beast!!

Gordon, did you happen to catch the recommended books featured in the "Xmas Reader" thread under the "General Fly Fishing" section? Nip Hadlock had recommended the tome titled, "Every FF Boy in America Wishes He Were Me: The Coffee Table Picture Edition by Gordon." So appropriate. . . .

Here is a third & final pig also taken in late November. When I first moved to the Rogue I though this river only had half pounders and small(18-22") steelhead. There are enough of these to make it very interesting.

Gordon

I love that second fish. Chrome bright and blushing. Definitly a nice B run fish.

With all your pictures of your rod, you would do him some good advertising. Ask him to put you on his pro staff and get ACR rods at %50 -%75 off retail. It would be worth it for him with all the pictures you post with your rod advertising cabelas (yuck!) with huge steelhead!. You would just have to promise to throw all your cabelas rods in the trash and use only acr rods.
