This is the best lake for large Rainbow trout in Nor Cal.

October through December (closes Dec 31) is the prime time there when the fish come into the shallows to eat scuds. It can be good the first two weeks of the season in the Spring too. The rest of the time (July-Sept) the fish are a little too deep for fly fishing.

Many people wade fish this fishery. Some use float tubes and pontoons boats. Some use boats to get around too. Trolling flies is popular too.

Jay Fair is the top guide and knowledge up there. Try to get out once with him if you want to see how to really fly fish that lake.

Terry Thomas is up there this week with friends so we should have a report soon.

On our Report pages we have more info on Eagle Lake.
