Guide Steve Cooper is the only person I have seen who has multi-day float and camp trips in the summer on the remote lower section of the Grand Ronde River for Smallmouth.

I know from sources that this is the number one place for sizable Smallmouth in a river in the West. It is considerable better than the Umpqua or John Day Rivers especially for the size of fish.

I highly recommend that you consider a trip with Steve on the GR this summer.

I floated and camped this stretch with Scott O'Donnell's Guide Service in the Fall for Steelhead in 2005.

I think it is a form a camouflage?

He probably doesn't want anyone to know what he is up to?

Not many know about that fishery, seriously.

Most know about the lower Umpqua and the John Day Rivers for Smallmouth but this river has much larger average size fish which come up out of the Snake River in the Spring.
